At the 156th Annual Meeting and Cherry Pie Festival, the American Benevolent Society presented The 2024 Cherry Pie Award to the Clinica Brimex at the Centro Medico ABC.
When presenting the award, Executive Director Aliki Elias said:
"Tonight, it fills me with great pleasure to introduce the recipient of this year's Cherry Pie Award. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon those who exemplify extraordinary dedication and selflessness in their service to others.
Volunteering transcends the mere donation of time; it's about pouring a piece of our hearts into the lives of those in need, embodying the very essence of humanity, compassion, and selflessness.
This year's honoree has left an indelible mark on countless lives, particularly within our organization, the ABS, and among our beneficiaries. Their unwavering commitment to caring for the sick has extended beyond the confines of their facility, as they've generously opened both their doors and their hearts to support the mission of the ABS.
Their dedication to fostering social impact and enhancing community health through comprehensive care clinics, prevntative programs, and specialized services is truly commendable. Despite officially opening their doors in 1987, their legacy traces back over a century, originating from the foundation laid by the ABS almost 140 years ago.
But let me emphasize that this honor does not belong to just one individual; rather, it belongs to an entire team of remarkable individuals. From doctors and nurses to technicians, therapists, surgical staff, administrators, and countless others, this team selflessly contributes their time, talents, and resources to provide care to those in the most vulnerable situations.
In the words of one grateful recipient, "I found an angel" amidst their care.
